The Mitutoyo 543-396 Absolute Digimatic electronic indicator gauge, ID-C series, is for measuring short, linear distances in mechanical engineering, machining, and manufacturing applications. It has a measurement range of 0 to 0.5″ (0 to 12.7mm), a resolution of 0.00005″ (0.001mm), and an accuracy of + or – 0.0001″. The LCD screen displays measurements in inches and metric units. The indicator has a go/no-go display that lights green or red, respectively, when upper and/or lower tolerances have been set, and the result can be displayed in full-size characters. The face of the indicator can be rotated 330 degrees for reading from different directions. This unit has a 3/8″ diameter stem and a #4-48 UNF contact point thread mount. It has a lug back for mounting from the rear of the indicator. This unit has a low measuring force of 0.4N to 0.7N for working with softer or more delicate workpieces. This model is Ingress Protection certified IP42 for protection against objects greater than 1mm and dripping water.
Additional functions for this indicator include origin set, preset, zero set, counting direction switching, and alerts for low voltage, counting value composition, overflow, and tolerance limit setting errors. An Absolute electrostatic capacitance-type linear encoder helps prevent overspeed errors for taking accurate measurements. It has a battery life of approximately 7,000 hours of normal use. This unit comes with a SR-44 battery. This gauge offers serial data output (using optional SPC cables, sold separately), which increases speed and reliability of digital measurement records.
