Description
The Mitutoyo 536-221 Scribing vernier caliper performs precise measurements to within 0.05 mm, for applications requiring high levels of accuracy, especially in scientific research and in industries where parts must fit exactly. This caliper has sharp, carbide-tipped jaws to facilitate fine scribing on workpieces.
The vernier caliper has a fixed (main) scale and a movable (vernier) scale. The vernier scale moves over the main scale rule to give a fractional measurement which is added to the measurement of the main scale to achieve a more accurate result. The main scale may be marked in inches, millimeters, or both. The vernier scale may be marked in inches or millimeters. The 536-221 measures in millimeters. A thumbwheel permits fast measuring, and a rotating screw controls the caliper’s movement.
The 536-221 measures in metric units. The vernier reading of the lower scale is 0.05 mm. The scales are raised to slide easily and protect the graduation markings. A thumbwheel permits fast and easy measuring. A clamping screw on the upper scale rotates to control scale movement and locks to hold the sliding jaw’s position. It weighs 150g and is made of hardened stainless steel construction with a satin chrome finish. With its carbide-tipped jaws, caliper 536-221 enables fine scribing on workpieces. It has a main scale length of 229 mm, a rear lower jaw depth of 46 mm, a forward lower jaw depth of 33, an upper jaw length of 21.5, an upper jaw depth of 17 mm, and a beam width of 16 mm. This caliper has a depth bar. Range is 0 – 150 mm is 0.05 mm, and Accuracy is rated at + or – 0.05 mm, which meets Federal Accuracy Specifications GGG-C-111B.
