HSS Intermediate Lead 3B Tolerance Screw Thread Insert (STI) Tap.
PowerCoil wire thread inserts are installed into oversize tapped holes.
Only PowerCoil STI (Screw Thread Insert) Taps are suitable for use with PowerCoil Wire Thread Inserts.
STI Taps have a larger diameter, than standard taps, but the same pitch to accommodate the wire thread insert. Once the insert is installed in the tapped hole it creates the desired internal thread tolerance for the installed bolt or stud.
Intermediate Taps have a lead of four threads and are used in most general purpose applications to cut a thread true to a pre-drilled pilot hole.
